Legal Disputes

It would be nice if we could live in a world without disputes. Unfortunately, legal disputes are often an unavoidable part of life. Some disputes are relatively straight-forward and can be resolved quickly and easily. Others take years and a lengthy court process to resolve. Either way, there is likely to be a lot of stress and emotion involved.

We understand how you feel. We meet clients every day, each with a different story and a different problem to solve. We listen, we care and we are here to help you.

Our approach to legal disputes is simple: we aim to resolve your dispute quickly and amicably as possible. We listen to our clients and advise them on their position in a simple and straight-forward way, without all the legal jargon. We will explain your options to you and will work with you to achieve the best possible outcome.

What kind of issues do we deal with?

Some of the most common types of disputes we deal with include:

  • Consumer Rights including sale of goods and services claims and breaches of contract
  • Contractual Disputes
  • Money claims/Debt Recovery
  • Landlord and Tenant disputes including non-payment of rent, recovery of possession, breach of covenants, dilapidations and repairs claims
  • Employment disputes
  • Contesting Wills
  • Property and Boundary Dispute Disputes
  • Defamation claims
  • Professional Negligence claims
  • Commercial disputes
  • Copyright, registered and non-registered design rights, patent infringement
  • Disputes involving government departments and public bodies such as local authorities and housing associations

How long will it take?

It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few years to resolve a legal dispute although, thankfully, we see few taking that long to resolve. The time it takes usually depends on how complex the case is, the personalities of the people involved and the complexity of the situation. Rest assured we will aim to resolve your dispute as quickly as possible and will take court action on your behalf as soon as it becomes necessary. We will also keep you updated along the way.

Our Charges

Our approach to legal fees is entirely transparent. We generally start by giving our clients an estimate of costs or agreeing a fixed-fee with them. We won’t hide anything from you and we won’t present you with any nasty surprises on the end. Litigation can be costly and it is important that you constantly analyse the risks and benefits as your matter progresses.

Funding a Dispute

There are a number of ways in which you can fund a dispute. One of the first things we will do is to discuss your options with you and help you decide which option is the most suitable to you. Your options generally include funding via pre-purchased legal expenses, insurance policies, no-win-no-fee agreements, hourly rates, fixed fees or staged fees. If your claim (or defence) succeeds, we will look to recover your legal fees from your opponent whenever possible.
