Workplace Accident Injury Claims
Injuries incurred in the workplace vary hugely in severity. They can be anything from a short-term injury such as a broken limb to a life-changing brain or amputation injury, or may even result in someone’s death.
A workplace accident will often result in what is known as an employer’s liability claim, because the employer will be held responsible for the injury incurred by the employee. However, the situation can become more complicated, for instance if the employee is a self-employed sub-contractor.
Our lawyers have been recognised for their personal injury claim expertise in King’s Lynn, the Fens and surrounding areas for many years and we are ranked by national independent reviewers Legal 500 for claimant personal injury advice.

Personal injury solicitors for workplace injury claims
Our personal injury solicitors are committed to helping people who have been injured at work to make a claim with the minimum amount of stress, knowing that they are being supported by an experienced local lawyer. Our lawyers are happy to see you at any of our offices or for more serious injuries we can visit you in hospital or at home. This can help us to gain a full understanding of the impact that the injury you incurred at work is having on your day-to-day life.
The aim of any personal injury claim is to put you back as closely as possible into the position that you were in before you incurred your injury. Sometimes this involves obtaining specialist medical treatment or helping you to adapt a property if you have suffered life-changing injuries. Often, however, the main focus is on ensuring that you are reimbursed for any lost earnings while you recover from your injuries, or receive compensation if you will be unable to carry out the same type of work in the future.
How much can I claim for a workplace injury?
There are also some guideline amounts of money that can potentially be claimed for different types of injury as the ‘pain and suffering’ aspect of your claim. We can explain these to you when we discuss your potential claim with you. There are wide variations in the amounts, and they are designed to reflect the likely impact of the injury on your daily life.
So, for example, the amount that you might be able to claim if you had suffered an amputation of your thumb is about four times as high as the amount you could claim if you amputated your little finger.
What types of workplace injury are most likely to occur?
This list is by no means exhaustive, but there are a few sectors where more workplace injuries are incurred than others. The claimant personal injury team at Fraser Dawbarns tends to see the most accident at work clients who have been injured from the following sectors:
- Construction industry – incidents involving scaffolding or falls from height, or alternatively involving large vehicles on site
- Manufacturing – accidents involving machinery are sadly still relatively common, with health and safety guidelines not being fully communicated and enforced
- Retail – whether it be incidents in a warehouse, often with forklift trucks, or on the shop floor
- Leisure industry – businesses in the leisure industry tend to have a higher turnover of staff, or employ more seasonal workers, which has a knock-on impact on the amount of workplace accidents that occur.
Funding a workplace injury claim
We continue to offer ‘no win, no fee’ as our main option for claimant personal injury cases. We will explain the details of how this works in full at the start of your claim but it means that you won’t have any initial costs to get the claim started, providing we believe it has a reasonable chance of success.
