Paralegal

Laura Edmunds is a paralegal in the Dispute Resolution team working in our Wisbech office. Laura joined the Firm in 2024 having moved from Scotland to the Cambridgeshire area a few years earlier.

Laura has worked with a wide range of clients, including individuals, insurers, company directors and partners. Laura delivers an honest and pragmatic approach to resolving disputes and her favourite aspect of the job is achieving the best results for the client.

Despite a wide range of expertise, Laura now focuses on personal injury work and primarily Clinical Negligence.

Career

Laura studied at the University of Dundee where she gained a 2:1 in Scottish Law and went on to pass her Diploma in Legal Practice. She completed her traineeship at Mackinnons Solicitors and fully qualified as a Solicitor in 2010. In 2016, whilst working full time, she gained a Master’s degree in Oil and Gas Law with distinction at the University of Aberdeen. Laura is currently studying her Solicitors Qualifying Examination part 1 to allow her to qualify as a Solicitor in English law.

During her career, Laura has obtained a broad range of experience in dispute resolution, having worked as a Solicitor and Legal Advisor in Scotland. She has experience in defending and pursuing personal injury claims, clinical negligence claims, debt recovery, repossessions,  contractual and company disputes. Laura has further gained experience in non -contentious areas such as advising and negotiating contracts  and drafting contracts, and terms and conditions.

Expertise

Laura has particular experience in the following areas:

  • Road traffic collision claims involving cars, and/or lorries
  • Accident claims involving pedestrians
  • Employers’ liability claims following workplace injuries
  • Public liability claims including ‘slip and trip’
  • Fatal Accident Claims
  • Clincial negligence claims involving misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis, surgical or medication errors, pregnancy or birth injuries, negligence in care such as pressure sores, or negligence in dental treatment

Personal Interests

Laura is an outdoor enthusiast. She enjoys regular travel with her family. Together, they compete in biking competitions around the country as well as doing a variety of water sports and snow sports. Laura has previously participated in the Lap of Anglia, cycling 435 miles in four days on a tandem bike with her husband to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
