£25,000 settlement following workplace accident
Fraser Dawbarns has recently settled the claim of a woman who suffered back and mild internal organ injuries at work. Her injuries were caused by a faulty chair which resulted in her falling onto an exposed metal frame.
Neil John, who heads the personal injury team, comments: “Workplace injuries vary greatly in type, severity and long-term impact. What is consistent is that employers have a duty of care to their employees and if they fail in this duty and someone is injured as a result then there is frequently a valid injury claim. In this case, our client was entitled to expect that the chair she was using would be fit for purpose and that she would not end up being injured when attempting to adjust its position. Like many injury claims, this one comprised several elements including compensation for loss of earnings while she was recovering from her injuries.”
