Successful personal injury claim for injured cyclist
The Fraser Dawbarns personal injury team has recently settled the claim of a Lincolnshire man who suffered a fractured vertebra and bruising when he was thrown from his bicycle after hitting a defect in the road.
Neil John, who heads the injury claims team, comments: “Potholes have frequently been in the media in recent years as the condition of the UK’s roads worsens and councils struggle to keep up with their repair. Unfortunately, road defects of any sort can contribute to accidents, and cyclists are generally more at risk of injury from these than those driving larger vehicles. Where there is an obvious defect which has caused an incident in which someone is injured, it is often possible to bring what is known as a ‘public liability claim’. A financial settlement may cover a number of different aspects and will help to ensure that the injured person is not out of pocket as a result of an accident which was not their fault.”
