Neil John
Neil John is a personal injury claims specialist solicitor, and heads the Dispute Resolution department. He is based in the Wisbech office but acts for clients across the region.
Neil’s typical clients are those injured in road accidents, or who have suffered injuries at work or in public places. Neil particularly enjoys making sure that the clients get what they deserve in their claim settlement; this stems from when he was involved in a road accident himself as a teenager. Neil’s clients can expect to receive a bespoke and personal service that is tailored to their specific needs.
Career
Neil attended De Montfort University in Leicester where he achieved a degree in Law and followed this with the Legal Practice Course (LPC).
After gaining his LPC in 1997, Neil completed his training contract at a firm in Great Yarmouth, qualifying as a solicitor in 1999. He then took up a position at a larger law firm in King’s Lynn and began his specialisation in personal injury.
For over ten years, Neil represented the members of a large Trade Union throughout East Anglia and into the East Midlands, so he is familiar with cases involving employer’s liability. Neil also co-founded the BMF Biker Legal Line in 2000 with Managing Partner, Iain Grimes, and they both sat on the management committee of this line from its inception.
Neil joined Fraser Dawbarns in 2011, was made a partner in 2013, and became Head of the Dispute Resolution team in 2014. Neil also completed the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) course so he can support those in the team working for clients who are disputing Wills or contesting the distribution of an estate.
Expertise
Neil’s specialist personal injury expertise is highly valued by his clients. This includes extensive knowledge in the following areas:
- Injuries resulting from road traffic collisions – whether involving cars, lorries, vans, motorcycles, bicycles or pedestrians
- Workplace accidents and injuries, including fatalities
- Public liability claims
- Animal-related injury claims
- Injuries suffered abroad (depending on the country).
Neil has a particular specialism in injury claims following motorcycle accidents where he has both empathy for those involved and lived experience of the challenges faced by motorcyclists on the roads.
The claims that Neil brings on behalf of his clients vary widely in terms of the type of injury incurred, and include: orthopaedic injuries, amputation, mild traumatic brain injury, degloving injuries, soft tissue damage and musculoskeletal injuries.
Personal Interests
Outside work, Neil loves to ride his motorcycle and has held his advanced riding qualification with the Institute of Advanced Motorists since 2020 – almost 30 years after passing the same qualification in a car. When not riding, Neil is a keen golfer and has been club captain four times, raising money on each occasion for varying charities. He has also been involved in organising and running the Fraser Dawbarns’ annual Charity Golf Day since its inception in 2012. Neil also enjoys cooking and is often happiest when left in the kitchen.
