Neil John, a personal injury specialist at Fraser Dawbarns has brought a successful claim for Mr T, who was injured when the driver of the car in which he was a passenger lost control of the vehicle and crashed.  Mr T, who was in his 40s, suffered a fractured vertebra which resulted in him needing considerable time off work while it healed.

Neil comments: “There are two relatively common scenarios in which we bring claims on behalf of passengers.  One is where someone is a passenger in a car which is hit by another vehicle and both occupants of the car are injured and bringing claims against the driver of the other vehicle.  The other is where their own friend or colleague who was driving a vehicle when some form of collision and the injuries took place.  It is important to remember that the purpose of any personal injury claim is to put someone back as closely as possible to the position they were in before the accident occurred. In my experience, if someone has unintentionally injured a friend or colleague who was a passenger in their car, they are very keen for their insurance company to pay compensation so that the other person is not out of pocket while they recover from their injuries – as was the case here.”
