2020 was a difficult year for everyone but for some it was devastating, with the closure of many businesses and the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Because of the vast numbers in need, Fraser Dawbarns made Christmas donations of £2,500, split between five local charities. This was in part funded by the money that we have traditionally spent on client gifts. When choosing worthwhile causes to donate to, our focus was on food banks and charities helping homeless people.

We have been pleased with the responses that we have received from the charities, so we have decided to share them.

CHS Group Fenland Young People’s Service

May I take this opportunity to thank Fraser Dawbarns on behalf of our clients & staff team @ Fenland Young People Service for your generous donation. This money will help/support project activities for all of our clients.

Ely Food Bank

Thank you so much for thinking of us, it is greatly appreciated.  Your donation will make a real difference to those people we support.

Purfleet Trust

Thank you so much for getting in touch and for thinking of us. We are very grateful for your donation.

King’s Lynn Food Bank

That is incredibly kind of you.

Ferry Project

This is a lovely gesture and the Project are very grateful.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we took the decision to make our donations remotely and not to visit the sites. Unfortunately, this did mean that we were not able to meet the dedicated staff who devote their time to worthwhile causes, as we have with previous donations.

Despite this, we are pleased to know that our donations provided local people with a bed during the coldest months and is contributing towards helping them to develop essential life skills as well as providing hundreds of meals to families most in need.

About the Charities

Purfleet TrustThe Purfleet Trust

The Purfleet Trust provides help for homeless people in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk. It provides housing advice to help people find accommodation and to maintain their tenancies. The Purfleet Trust runs a Health and Wellbeing Centre which provides a daily hot meal and gives homeless people an opportunity to gain essential life skills.

Ely & King’s Lynn Foodbanks

With over 14 million people in the UK living in poverty, food banks are now more vital than ever. Foodbanks provide 3 days of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to people locked in poverty. We are supporting food banks that are helping people who are based in Ely, March, King’s Lynn and Downham Market.

Ferry Project

The Ferry Project is an award-winning social enterprise and registered charity that helps homeless people in Fenland, not just by providing accommodation, but giving people the skills they need to enable them to live independently. These include life skills such as cooking and cleaning, education courses and vocational training.

CHS Group

The Fenland Young People’s Project in Wisbech and March provides accommodation and support to young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and who want to make positive changes in their lives. The project offers a safe and nurturing environment with one to one support from a dedicated case worker.
