Neil John, a personal injury specialist solicitor at Fraser Dawbarns, has settled for £27,000 the claim of a construction worker who suffered a fractured collarbone at work. The injury occurred when a heavy piece of metal fell from an overhead cable and struck him on the shoulder.

Neil comments: “The Health & Safety Executive website reports that in 2023/24 there were around 604,000 non-fatal self-reported workplace injuries.  Of these, 127,000 required people to be off work for over seven days and 10% involved workers being struck by a moving object. It is therefore perhaps unsurprising that we regularly see clients who have been injured while working in the construction industry. In some instances, the fault for the injury lies solely with the employer and on other occasions the injured worker is also partly to blame.  In either case, it is worth discussing and potentially pursuing a claim, particularly if the injured worker will suffer a substantial loss of earnings though having to have time off work while their injuries heal.”
