Fatal injury claim settled for £330,000

Neil John, who heads the Fraser Dawbarns personal injury team, has successfully settled a fatal injury claim on behalf of the family of a car driver whose vehicle was hit by a work colleague driving the other way. The other party had been taking drugs and has subsequently been convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.

Neil comments: "We initially thought that the defendant had insurance, but it subsequently transpired that he didn't, so we had to pursue the claim through the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB). This is a classic example of what the MIB is there for, to help those who have a valid injury claim where either the driver who caused the incident is uninsured, or where the injury was caused during a hit-and-run and the driver cannot be traced. Commonly quoted statistics suggest that around four per cent of the cars on the road in the UK at any one time are uninsured, and over 26,000 accidents are caused each year by uninsured drivers".
