£125,000 obtained for injured moped rider

Fraser Dawbarns' personal injury specialist Neil John has settled the injury claim of a man who was riding a moped in Lincolnshire when he was hit by another vehicle. The car involved was coming out of a side road and the driver had failed to see the moped approaching into its path. The rider of the moped suffered a broken leg and dental damage.

Neil comments: "Riders of motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles are clearly all more vulnerable than car, van or lorry drivers on the road. Despite a raft of safety awareness campaigns over the years, statistics from a range of sources appear to show that although motorcycles consistently only make up about one percent of traffic using the UK's roads, they account for somewhere in the region of 20% of the fatalities that occur on them. On this occasion, fortunately, the vehicle emerging from the side road was travelling slowly and, as a result, the injuries incurred were ones that could be remedied with appropriate surgery and dentistry."
