£20,000 claim settlement for workplace injury

Neil John, a specialist personal injury claim solicitor at Fraser Dawbarns, has obtained a £20,000 settlement for Norfolk man Mr T, who suffered multiple pelvis fractures in an accident at work.

Mr T worked for a logistics company and, while on their premises, was struck from behind by a pallet which was being moved on a reach truck. The truck was being driven forwards rather than backwards, so Mr T was hidden from the driver’s view by the pallet.

Neil John comments: “Safety standards require reach trucks to be driven backwards rather than forwards whenever the load that they are carrying obscures the driver’s view of what is in front of the forklift. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the driver chose to go forwards and was unable to see Mr T, who was directly in his path. Health and safety non-compliance unfortunately remains a major cause of the workplace accidents and injuries that result in personal injury claims.”
