Personal injury settlement obtained following workplace accident
Fraser Dawbarns has recently settled the personal injury claim of a man from Norfolk who lost the top part of one of his fingers following an accident at work. The incident occurred when the client, a mill technician, stopped and isolated a machine due to a warning light. He gave instructions that it wasn’t to be reactivated as it needed to be cleaned underneath. His instructions were not followed and, when he went to clean underneath it, he suffered a serious injury to his finger because the machine had been switched back on.
Neil John, who heads the personal injury team at Fraser Dawbarns, comments: “Despite health and safety procedures being in place, workplace accidents due to human error are still relatively common. The purpose of any personal injury claim is to try to put the injured person back as far as possible into the position they would have been in had the incident not happened. While money can never fully compensate for the loss of part of a finger, we were able to obtain a sum for ‘pain and suffering’, alongside reimbursement of money lost while our client was unable to work while his finger healed to a point where he was able to return to work.”
