Settlement for wife who fled to refuge

Our family law solicitors in Wisbech have successfully helped a woman to conclude a divorce settlement which was double the sum originally offered by her husband. Having originally instructed other solicitors in Cambridge, the wife came to us after mediation had failed to result in an agreement. There were arguments about the husband's pre-marital assets and contribution but the Court process has now resulted in a satisfactory financial outcome and, more importantly, much needed closure.

Daniel Sims, who represented the wife, comments: "While mediation is always encouraged and can often enable agreement to be reached, it does not work for all divorcing couples. In this instance, we needed to make it clear that the matter would be pursued through the courts in order to resolve the financial situation appropriately."
