EMPLOYMENT LAW UPDATE: Minimum Wage Increase


Increases to the National Minimum Wage took effect from 1 October 2011. The standard adult rate has now been increased from £5.93 to £6.08. This is a 2.5% increase and was introduced following recommendations by the Low Pay Commission.

Rates for apprentices, 16-17 years olds and 18-20 year olds have also been increased. The new rates are, respectively, £2.60, £3.68 and £4.98.
