Deborah Allen is a Solicitor, Partner, and Head of the Family Law department, based in the King’s Lynn office. Deborah has also been the firm’s Senior Partner since May 2016. Deborah specialises in the financial aspects of divorce and separation, pre/post-nuptial agreements and cases involving family businesses, farms and family Trusts. Deborah’s clients come from all walks of life, but her specialisms mean that she often works with business owners and professionals.
Deborah particularly enjoys working with her clients and the variety involved within her work and the challenges that a complex case may present. Deborah always seeks to avoid proceedings, but where it is unavoidable, she enjoys advocacy. Deborah’s clients can expect to receive good, clear advice. Deborah considers that it is particularly important to be realistic and manage the client’s expectations but she is prepared to look outside the box to meet her client’s needs.
Deborah studied Law at Trent Polytechnic, now Nottingham Trent University, where she gained a BA. Deborah then studied for her Part 2 (the predecessor of the LPC) at the college of Law in Chester.
After gaining her qualifications, Deborah completed her training contract at Dawbarns in Wisbech, qualifying as a Solicitor in March 1981. 6 months after qualifying, Deborah moved to the King’s Lynn office where she worked in general practice, mainly in Family Law, Residential Conveyancing, and Probate. Deborah eventually specialised in Family Law, which she has done exclusively since the early 1990s. However, the early years in general practice gives her some background practical knowledge which can be very helpful.
Deborah is a member of Resolution, a national organisation for family lawyer professionals that works with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way. Deborah was also the first female President of the Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Law Society.
Outside work, Deborah enjoys travel, both at home and abroad. She also enjoys cooking, particularly when she is entertaining, and eating out in top restaurants. Since reducing her work week to three days, Deborah has discovered the pleasures of gardening.
I was given honest advice so that I didn't waste money on arranging Power of Attorney, the money was better spent on a Will to ensure security for my son. Many thanks.Client - Wisbech Office
