Charity Golf Day 2013
On 30th August 2013, Fraser Dawbarns LLP held its first Charity Golf Day at Tydd St Giles Golf and Leisure Estate. In all 56 players took part, enjoyed good weather and raised a total of £1,100 for the A Local Wish charity which is run by Christina Purcell and Nicki Bantoft.
In addition to this sum, Luke Stanford collected the sum of £120 from a group of club members who visited Farthingstone Golf Club and very kindly donated it to the golf day fund – each man, including Luke, donated £10. A big thank you goes to Luke and the boys for this very generous gift. The final amount presented to the charity was therefore £1,220.
There were some very good scores topped by Callum Walker who shot a gross 72, 10 shots below his 12 handicap. Malcolm Stead was second on countback from Chris Askew, both scoring five shots under their respective handicaps. Mick Vassall was next on the scoreboard with a net 66, four under his handicap of 8. The team event was won by Moore Thompson with a collective score of 93 points.
Fraser Dawbarns’ managing partner Tony Cheetham, who presented the prizes, thanked the players for their support of the event and said that it was hoped that the firm’s charity day would become an annual fixture in the golfing calendar. Please watch this space for news of the 2014 Charity Golf Day.
