Andrew Carrier is an experienced solicitor in our Commercial Department specialising in commercial property, agricultural law, business sales and purchases and joint venture work. Since joining the firm in April 2014, Andrew has advised clients on all areas of commercial and agricultural law. He also specialises in giving general legal advice to local councils.
Since qualifying in 2000, after serving in the armed forces, Andrew worked at Mills and Reeve, first in Cambridge advising public sector organisations, and then in Birmingham where he advised property development companies. In 2004, Andrew moved to a niche London firm where he was a commercial property specialist, and his caseload involved managing and selling mixed commercial property portfolio worth in excess of £2 billion.
Andrew puts common sense and his client’s concerns first before he applies the law to the circumstances, and always explains matters in a straightforward and concise manner.
Andrew is also a member of the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC). He completed the ILCA training for local council clerks in early 2016 and went on to gain the CiLCA qualification later the same year (‘a notable achievement’ as mentioned by SLCC). Some of the work Andrew carries out for his local council clients is Pro Bono.
In 2016, Andrew participated in the ‘ultra trail’ events in the UK and overseas earning the race points he needed to win a place in the prestigious Ultra Trail Mont Blanc race (UTMB) which takes place in August 2017. UTMB is a 105 mile race in the Mont Blanc region, starting and finishing in Chamonix, including 10,000m of ascent and descent. Competitors have a maximum of 46 hours to complete the course and the race record is just over 21 hours. Andrew is aiming to finish in under 30 hours and is currently choosing a charity to support through his fundraising efforts this year.
